In this project we combined text and pictures onto a surface via gel gloss transfers. To do this, we first print and cut out high contrast black and white images. we then brushed gel gloss medium onto MDF before pressing the paper onto it. After this dried, we dampened the paper with water, and then rubbed the paper of. This left just the ink suspended in gel gloss medium. After the majority of the paper was removed, we added one more layer of gel gloss medium as a permanent varnish on top.

My project consisted of creating a story about a soldier in the Vietnam War. The background consists of names on the Vietnam War Memorial. The pictures layered on top of this show a soldier being dropped of by helicopter, roaming the jungles, and saving a child's life. The soldier then falls into a punji pit, is carried out of the jungle by fellow soldiers, and loaded into a medical helicopter. The soldier dies from his injuries, which is represented by the battle cross. I hoped that this work would create a powerful statement, and I believe that it did.
